How to memorize the Pali Tipitaka

On this website i would like to present two systems which should help you if you want to learn longer passages / suttas / books from the Tipitaka, Buddhas own words.
Both systems use a similar approach, but have different approach on the revision pattern.
1.) Memorizing the Tipitaka (System No 1)
2.) How to memorize the Tipitaka (System No 2)

We are very interested in your own memorization experiences!
Some "golden rules" of memorization:
Familiarize yourself with the books general character - make its mnemonic structure your advantage
Learn once - let the mind know that it is expected to retain that which it hears / sees
Then exercise it frequently by reviews
The exercise and review is more important than the mere addition of many verses - whats the use of learning by heart just to lose it?
Give the text you wish to memorize as great a degree of concentrated attention as possible
Try to obtain the memory through as many a sense faculty as possible - try to exercise the weaker faculties -> this will improve your overall performance
Establish as many associations as possible - association is memory's method of indexing
Memorization requires time, work and patience
